There are about 100,000 people of full or partial Sakha ancestry (also known as Yakut) living in the United States; of these, 30,000 were born in the Sakha Republic.
Yakut first appeared in North America in the 19 century. They were mostly fishermen, hunters, carpenters. They now live mostly in Alaska, Oregon, and California. There are also some in the British Columbia, Alberta, Yukon provinces of Canada [1]
